How We Use Square Foot Gardening to Maximize Our Planting Space in Our Backyard Garden!

Square foot gardening is a gardening method where you divide your gardening space out into square foot (12″) areas. Mel Bartholomew’s book Square Foot Gardening, introduced the idea of planting densely within 4’x4′ raised beds in this square foot method. This method helps to promote growing space when you have limited growing space within your garden. 1. On the app you tell us how many plants per square foot and then also what size grow pots. Am I to assume I can plant the same number of plants per recommended grow pot as per square foot? I would like there to be added how many plants per recommended size of grow pot. Thank you.

  2. You say multiple crops can be planted within a square. If I am wanting to plant herbs with my Brussels, how many per square? Or do I alternate Brussels, herb, Brussels, herb, etc with only one plant per sqft? I hope this question makes sense! Thanks.

  3. Square foot gardening is a way of planting in rows and raised beds. This method helps gardeners maximize their time, space, and resources by maximizing the yield per square footage. With this technique it’s easy to keep your plants well-watered as you can easily reach them from the sides without disturbing neighboring plants or having to pull up one row for any reason such as harvesting vegetables before they’re ready!
