How to Grow:

Summer savory can be planted indoors 6-8 weeks before your last spring frost and planted outdoors after your last spring frost. It can also be planted in the fall 8 weeks before your first fall frost. You can see specific dates for your location using our FREE iOS, Android, and Universal Web App.

Summer savory seeds are planted 1/4 inch deep, 1 per square foot, in the full sun. Take care to notice what plants are around the area as well, see the companion plant section below. It will sprout in approximately 10-15 days with constant moisture.

Companion planting is a vital part of organic gardening. Companion plants assist in the growth of others by attracting beneficial insects, repelling pests, or providing nutrients, shade, or support. Harvesting:

Summer savory will be ready to harvest approximately 60-70 days after sprouting. It can be harvested anytime after it is at least 6 inches tall. Continually harvest when needed by snipping off the tallest stems.

Cooking & Eating!

Summer savory is an herb that can be used in both fresh or dried. Dry these herbs by simply hanging in a warm, dry location. Summer savory is similar to thyme in which it can be used in a wide variety of dishes such as meats, vegetables, soups, and salads.
